Its mission? To accelerate theworld’s transition to sustainable energy by producing electric cars that are better than their gasolinepowered peers. Fast forward 14 years and Tesla has made good on its promise with the Model S P100D – the fastest production car ever made. Boasting a 100kWh battery and a new software pack that allows drivers to instigate what Tesla calls “Ludicrous mode ” , the P100D can accelerate from0 to 60miles per hour in just 2.5 seconds. One magazine even recorded a record time of 2.276 seconds, the first time any production car had ever broken the 2.3 second mark. That places it ahead of the fastest cars ever produced by the likes of McLaren, Lamborghini or Ferrari.
