This season sees the return of the shoulder pad, but Bottega Veneta doesn’t look to the 1980s for inspiration. Instead, think Casa Blanca and the 1940s, a time of war but also a time when ladies knew how to dress and impress. The larger shoulders pair with higher waistlines and elegant skirts that fall just below the knees. The ladies in this epoch were also strong and brave, which translates into comfortable wear and a slight toughness in tailoring. The main color schemes are ochre yellow and a deep burgundy that pair beautifully. Our pick is one of the few black items, a shining leather A-line skirt with matching jacket. STYLE
