Since the first modern diving watch, “Fifty Fathoms,” was officially put into circulation in 1953, Blancpain has been highly active in the marine world. As of May 2017, Blancpain has initiated 22 ocean surveys and established 13 protected marine areas. In total it has successfully protected over 4.5 million square kilometers of pristine water, equivalent to 100 times the size of Switzerland! This year Blancpain launched a new Fifty Fathoms MIL-SPEC watch equipped with self- produced automatic chain 1151 movement and diamagnetic silicon hairspring. The double winding box has up to four days of storage power. The watch uses a fine steel watch case with a diameter of 40 millimeters and is limited to 500 pieces.
