HIGH LIFE #14 Nov 2017 43 “This building was built during the late 1960s and when we found out about this space, we knew in an instant it was the place for us,” recalls TC. “We’ve kept the original door to match the motif and feel of our shop.” Macau Vintage Market takes visitors on a trip down memory lane, literally and figuratively, with thewide range of antique displays and retro style clothes perfectly illuminated by the warm lighting of the shop. “We found a lot of our furniture and decorations in rubbish stations and transformed them into something more useful,” TC continues. “We also like to check out stuff in the flea market alongside Theatre Alegria – it’s an oldie but a goodie.” Walking up the stiff steel staircase to the second floor, nostalgia takes full effect as “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles plays in the background. Among the gems waiting at the top is the oldest item in the store – a 105-year-old cash register from the American Western Steampunk era – which sells for MOP$40,000.
