For thosewho haven’t had the opportunity to admire anyof his exhibitions, Bosch Dreams is a fantastic opportunity to delve into tales of the artist’s life and the revelations that emerge from his truly unique art. Inspired by images from his best-known works, including “The Seven Deadly Sins” and “The Garden of Earthly Delights” among others, the painter’s creations are brought to life by Tétreault via a parade of 25 characters, wondrous masked and moving artists that “go constantly in and out the paintings.” “We filmed some of the actors in front of a green screen, so they’ll appear like they’re inside the painting and then they come forwards on the stage,” Tétreault says with a smile. On Bosch Dreams ’ Asian premiere, the director says he’s looking forward to seeing the reaction from Chinese audiences to the show. “I believe Bosch’s work is very universal, but at the same time his work was based on the culture of the Middle Ages influenced by Catholicism,” he says. “I’m interested to see how it will reach beyond these old medium-religious concepts of representing good and evil. “Good and evil is present in all cultures and all religions and that is the message to get from the show. Between the Middle Ages and today, what is our perception nowadays on good and evil and how do we as individuals choose to live our lives? That’s the key question of the show.”
