Since the opening of his first boutique inMilan in 2000, the luxury footwear designer has seen his star rise in fashion circles. Originally a DJ, the Italian-born Zanotti soon gave in to his love of fashion, working with small craftsmen as a freelance designer before taking his talent and energy to the leading fashion houses. In the early 1990s he bought the Vicini shoe factory to push the boundaries of models and style, bending the industry to suit the creative process rather than allowing mass production to dictate design. This also enabled the factory to produce a vast number of collections on a small scale, almost like “made to measure” couture. Zanotti is famous for his sculptural, jeweledheels and fashion- forward sneakers, crafting women’s, men’s and children’s shoes as well as small leather goods, handbags, jewelry and ready-to-wear items.
