T here’s a new energy in the world of art and fashion, especially in diverse cities like Macau. I.N.K Macau has been instrumental in pushing this movement forward by blurring the lines of what is unconventional and what was once considered traditional. True enough to their passion for breaking free, the duo behind the local fashion house display a contrasting and rather ironic way of styling when we meet. Inky Leong, in a bright and youthful ensemble, is the young 27-year-old CEO of the 二人坚信,作为一个新兴时尚品 companywhile Kris Chan, the design director, chooses a refined and more formal suit jacket and slacks. Both born and raised in Macau, what began as a childhood fascination eventually became their ticket to the world of fashion. “I discovered my passion for fashion at just six years of age,” says Inky with a shrill of laughter. “I would be fascinated by stylish people whenever my mom and I would go to the market.” With a degree in fashion design from Shih Chien University in Taiwan and 12 years of experience under his belt, Kris has been driven by a passion for clothes for as long as he can remember. “My mom used to work in a clothing factory, so I was interested in making my own clothes,” he recalls. I.N.K Macau is establishing new trends rather than following them, as viewed by the team itself. Their careers could easily be explained by a list of unique garments, runway shows in various fashion weeks and their signature icon, a lotus flower, which points to their Macau roots.
