This is Patek Philippe’s first piece combining the “World Time” and “Minute Repeater” functions. Unlike other minute repeater timepieces, Ref. 5531R’s most distinctive feature is that its timekeeping device reports local time rather than original residence time, while past minute repeater timepieces can only be based on presets. This initiative benefits from the new self-winding Caliber R 27 HU, independently developed by the Patek Philippe senior watchmaking workshop and consisting of 462 parts with a Patek Philippe mark. Different from the Ref. 5531R NewYork 2017 Special Edition, the new Ref. 5531R has a grand feu enamel dial showing the Lavaux vineyard terraces on the shores of Lake Geneva. The vineyards are a UNESCO world heritage site.
