HIGH LIFE #4 January 2017 113 STYLE F ollowing the success of the Tourbillon 24 Secondes Vision, which was awarded the 2015 Aiguille d’Or by the jury of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, Greubel Forsey presents the latest addition to the family – the Tourbillon 24 Secondes Vision in platinumwith a “Salmon” dial. During the creation of the Tourbillon 24 Secondes Vision, Robert Greubel and StephenForseywere confrontedwith amajor challenge – how to house the Tourbillon 24 Secondes mechanism without sacrificing the timepiece’s pure, elegant lines. In other words, how could they reconcile sophistication with simplicity? The solution was achieved by giving the case’s design a subtle, vertical asymmetry. Byincorporatingasapphirecrystal dome into thebackof the timepiece, the watchmakers were able to generate the volume required to encase the tourbillon mechanism, thus leading to a perfect alchemy between performance and comfort. Over and above its showcase function, the sapphire dome captures luminosity and channels it into the interior of the timepiece, allowing the tourbillon to be viewed through a stream of light. Among this timepiece’s most noteworthy features are its two curved tourbillon bridges, with their delicately hand-polished surfaces. To attain suchsymmetrical perfectioninthefinishesof three-dimensional tourbillon bridges isnomeanachievement, and indeedeachbridge isdiscreetlysigned by the artisan decorator who has produced it. Furthermore, in keeping with the high standards, the movement’s 293 parts, whether visible or not, feature an outstanding hand finish. Fitted with a 5N PVD-treated white gold dial, Tourbillon 24 Secondes Vision in platinum with its “Salmon’’ dial is the first in an edition of four timepieces.Thehour,minuteandsmall secondshandsaremadeofpolished blued steel, while the index features “grand feu champlevé” enamel.
