A skeptic uses critical thinking skills, sound evidence and logical reasoning to ask questions, solve problems and make decisions, whereas a negative individual jumps to conclusions irrationally. However, skeptics are often misunderstood as being negative because they are rarely given the chance to explain their thoughts in the first place. During a recent interview, I met the founder of Cha Bei, Joanna Lui, a rigorously intelligent skeptic. She questions everything in the world; from the way we eat to the Asian educational system that emphasizes memorization skills, she bravely disagrees and gives her own opinion. Creative and audacious, she developed a concept of healthy eating that combines Asian and Western tastes with Nordic aesthetics. In our society where many follow a status quo defined by the majority, we need individuals like Joanna who are not afraid to speak up. Personally, I particularly admire her rhetorical poise and unique vision. Throughout human history, skeptics are the ones who move our civilization forward. Therefore, skepticism should never be considered a rebellious or negative force, for it is both a virtue and an active inquiry that guides us away from reasoning errors and unnecessary disappointments. Skepticism as a virtue
