HIGH LIFE #5 February 2017 39 The exhibition at Macau Tower showcased some of Murakami’s best work in the style he developed named Superflat, which is also the title of this exhibition that has already toured several important art capitals. His work blends contemporary art with traditional Japanese painting, high culture with pop culture and East with West. Throughout the years he has held a number of solo exhibitions at prestigious museums around the world. Besides developing his own aesthetics, Murakami has also been quite active as a gallerist and producer. Over the years he has acquired a fine collection of contemporary art. His eclectic selection of works includes old Japanese and Asian artifacts, European antiques, contemporary pottery and folk art and crafts.
