Formally incorporated four years ago, CHC was first imagined in 2010whenTeo, a Harvard-educated architectwhose projects have included the Malaysian Federal Government’s Putrajaya administrative centre, was commissioned by Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to design the spectacularMeydan racecourse and surrounds. The project changed Teo’s life. “China Horse Club itself evolved fromwhat I observed in Dubai,” he explains. “I was asked to design everything related to horses and to do so I wanted to learn more about them because the horse doesn’t talk, so I did my research and from there I fell in love with the horses themselves. It was the first time I had been exposed to the sport at that level and I’ve been fascinated ever since. “But the other thing we observed there was people that wanted something more. They do their business and they make money but they want something more in terms of lifestyle, something theycanuse tobetterengagewithpeople intheworld. So I thought itwould be verynice ifwe could set up a platformto connect themby combing everything togetherwithhorse racing.
