Keen to continue growing the industry locally, Clement is Chairman of the Board of the Council of Macau Interior Design Commercial Association – an organization founded in 2014 to provide a platform for people in the industry. He has also seen his own team grow – CINCH now employs about 10 people, including five designers. But he remains reluctant to see it get much bigger. “We don’t want to expand the company too much because we’d like to keep our design level. Design comes first, we can develop others step by step,” he says. As for is own development? “I never thought about being the ‘best’ designer,” he explains. “It’s difficult to define ‘best’ and it’s not easy to compare different styles. I’ll be satisfied if my design works can provide inspiration to others or build emotional connections between space and people. But to achieve that is actually very difficult.”
